How SHUEN Manufactures Custom Pickleball Paddles

See how an agreed paddle build moves through carbon-fiber cloth cutting, core preparation, hot pressing, finishing, component assembly and final checks. The construction and artwork are confirmed for each project.

The manufacturing process

Our Six-Step Manufacturing Process

The steps below follow the production sequence for the agreed build. Core preparation varies with the selected structure.

  1. 01

    Cut the Carbon-Fiber Cloth

Carbon-fiber cloth is cut to the paddle shape required for the agreed build.

  2. 02

Wrap the Core and Preform the Paddle Blank

For the applicable honeycomb-core construction, foam and EVA are wrapped around the custom-sized honeycomb core, fully covering the paddle-face perimeter to form a preformed paddle blank. This preparation does not apply to every core structure.

  3. 03

Place in the Mold and Hot Press

The preformed blank is placed in the corresponding mold and hot-pressed into shape.

Sand, Check the Surface and UV Print

The hot-pressed blank is sanded smooth. Its surface is checked for defects before the customer's confirmed design is UV printed.

    Assemble the Paddle Components

The edge guard, handle padding, butt cap, rubber ring and grip wrap are installed on the paddle.

Check the Finished Paddle and Arrange Dispatch

Finished paddles are checked after assembly. Dispatch, destination and shipping method are arranged for the confirmed order.

Quality control

Quality Checks Before Printing and Dispatch

Checks are part of two confirmed stages in this process: after sanding and after component assembly.

01

Before UV Printing

After sanding, the paddle surface is checked for defects before the customer's design is printed.

02

Before Dispatch

After component assembly, the finished paddle is checked. The order's destination, shipping method and timing are then confirmed.

FAQ

Manufacturing FAQs

Does the foam and EVA wrapping apply to every core structure?

No. The wrapping in Step 2 applies to the specified honeycomb-core construction. The preparation for another core structure is determined with the selected build.

Can paddle configuration choices be combined?

Yes. SHUEN can combine configuration choices and help develop a core structure. The final combination is discussed for the project and confirmed with a sample.
